| THE HOUSE
|

The main part of the house has four twin bedrooms
with ensuite bathrooms. The
two upstairs bedrooms open via French windows onto their own private
terraces either side of the house from the wrap-around Upper
Terrace one of these bedrooms also opens on to another twin room. A third upstairs bedroom is the single bedroom. All five bathrooms have a large shower (with a good steady pressure and mixture control), basin, bidet and w.c. In addition one upstairs bathroom, which is accessible also to other house guests, has a small bath (for children or inveterate bath takers!) All eight bedrooms comprise two large single beds (designed so that they can be placed side by side to become a 6ft wide double bed) and hanging and storage space. The main upstairs entrance opens into a spacious sitting room and gallery with stairs leading down to the double height dining room and integrated kitchen.

| THE LOWER TERRACES |

From the dining room and integrated kitchen wide French windows lead directly
out onto the half-roofed 12m x 6m Main
Terrace with its in-built seating areas. To
one side of this is the 6m x 7m Sun
Terrace with the full sized 10m x 5m
swimming pool and Pool
Terrace set below down some steps. On
the other side of the main terrace is the 8m x 10m Barbecue Terrace with
its own covered eating area. From here steps lead down
to the 10m x 9m Garden
Terrace with its giant chess board. So
Askalia offers a truly magnificent choice of expansive terraces and
views for alfresco living both in the sunshine and in the shade. |

| THE LOCATION

We are one of a number of properties that a group
of English friends have built over the last dozen or so years since
Peligoni, our local windsurfing and sailing holiday club, set up
on the coast. We are in a beautifully secluded position
on the hillside with all round panoramic views of the sea, the
coast and the hills behind. It is only 5 minutes drive
down to the Peligoni, the sea, the local harbour and the nearest
village, so car hire is essential. We have over two
acres of terraced hillside, as do most of the others houses. The
house is approached by a long and level unmade private drive with
excellent parking. This leads off an unspoilt single
track tarmac hill road that winds through ancient olive groves
to the rear of the house from which the hillside stretches unspoilt
to the skyline with only the occasional herd of goats to disturb
the peace. Down at the Peligoni our guests are welcome
to meet other like-minded holiday makers at their bar or make use
of their tennis court.

| THE KITCHEN
|

| The
spacious and fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob and electric oven,
microwave, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and full sized separate ?drinks? fridge. The
extensive tiled work surface includes a ?peninsular? dividing the
kitchen from the dining area. A large storage/utility
room with washing machine and sink is situated behind the bedrooms
on the lower garden level.

| EATING OUT
|
|||||||||
| Greek cuisine is not haute cuisine but is very good in all our local tavernas,
simple, extremely fresh, using excellent local produce, and exceptional
value for money. The advantage of this is that eating out
is genuinely almost as cheap as self-catering and there are about a
dozen tavernas within a short drive from the house. Greek
wine is also improving all the time with a good selection of non-retsina
wines and Zakynthos own wine is eminently drinkable. In
Zakynthos town there are many outstanding restaurants catering to the
international clientele - but unfortunately at more international prices! |

| TRAVEL

|
Speaking of international, Zakynthos boasts an international airport for direct charter flights from many UK airports ensuring a minimum travel time from home as the house is only 45 minutes from the airport (flight time from UK is 3 to 3½ hours).
